Midsummer: The Summer Solstice

Midsummer, also called Alban Hefin or St. John’s Day, takes place around the time of the summer solstice. Like Midwinter, it can be divided into two separate holidays: the Summer Solstice and Midsummer Day, held a few days later, on June 24. Some Druids celebrate the summer solstice with three separate rituals. The first ritual is held at dusk the day before the solstice. The next is at dawn on the solstice, and the final ritual is held at noon on the solstice day at the very peak of the sun’s power.
